Racine Art Museum
The Racine Art Museum boasts the most extensive and notable contemporary craft collection in North America, comprising over 10,000 pieces crafted by nationally and internationally acclaimed artists. The museum’s mission revolves around the exhibition, collection, preservation, and education in the realm of contemporary visual arts.
A central objective for the museum is to enhance the standing of craft as fine art, showcasing ceramic, fiber, glass, metal, polymer, and wood alongside traditional paintings and sculptures. Playing a pivotal role in arts education, the museum extends its influence through RAM’s Wustum Museum.
This extension facilitates community outreach programs, as well as studio art classes and workshops conducted by artists of regional and national renown specializing in craft media. The Racine Art Museum remains dedicated to fostering creativity and appreciation for contemporary crafts through its diverse collection and educational initiatives.

RAM's Charles A. Wustum Museum of Fine Arts
Before the inception of the Racine Art Museum, there existed The Charles A. Wustum Museum of Fine Arts. Established on November 16, 1941, the house was generously bequeathed to the city of Racine for the specific purpose of serving as a fine arts museum.
Wustum stands not merely as a survivor but as a thriving and significant arts organization. The exhibition showcases items created by artists pivotal to Wustum’s history on various levels. The establishment of RAM in 2003 significantly heightened the demand for artists’ contributions in institutional development.
Artists have played a crucial role in sustaining both Wustum and RAM, contributing through volunteering, teaching, and donations. They have served as staff, board members, and committee members, actively participating in campaigns, sponsorship initiatives, facilitating substantial gifts, and contributing remarkable collections. The artists featured in this exhibition meet two specific criteria:
They have been indispensable to the growth of Wustum and RAM in one or more aspects.
They are actively involved in RAM’s properties.
